Connector Guide: NAB Direct Link
Configuration parameters for NAB Direct Link. Establishing a secure SFTP tunnel for high-volume domestic payments and ISO 20022 payloads.
The Connectivity Model
Demiton connects to National Australia Bank (NAB) via the Direct Link service. This is a dedicated Host-to-Host channel designed for high-volume commercial banking.
Direct Link differs from the standard web portal by enforcing strictly defined "File Pickup" and "File Drop" windows. Demiton automates the polling logic to ensure these windows are never missed.
Phase 1: Service Activation
Direct Link is not enabled by default for NAB Connect customers. It is a separate commercial agreement.
- Contact your NAB Transactional Banking Specialist.
- Request the "Direct Link SFTP" service (Note: Do not request the legacy Dial-up or HTTPS API service).
- Specify your requirement for "SSH/SFTP Key-Based Authentication".
- Environment: Request access to the "Penny Test" (UAT) environment first. NAB mandates a validation phase before Production access is granted.
Phase 2: Security & Key Exchange
NAB utilizes strict RSA Key Exchange.
- Log in to Demiton > Settings > Security.
- Download the Demiton Production Public Key (
demiton_prod.pub). - Email this key to the NAB Direct Link Implementation Team.
- Inbound Keys: NAB will send you their Public Key. Upload this to the Demiton Key Vault so we can verify the signature of their ACK files (optional but recommended).
Phase 3: Network Configuration
NAB employs a strict firewall policy. You must provide the Demiton Egress IPs for allow-listing.
- Production IPs:
34.129.x.x(Refer to Dashboard) - Disaster Recovery:
34.129.y.y
Note: NAB may ask for your "Source Address." Since Demiton is a cloud-native connector, explain that these are Static NAT Gateways located in the australia-southeast1 region.
Phase 4: Configure the Universal Adapter
Once the implementation team confirms the "Connectivity Test" is ready:
- Log in to Demiton.
- Go to Connectors > Add Connector.
- Select NAB Direct Link.
- Host:
sftp.transact.nab.com.au(Pre-filled). - User ID: Enter your 10-digit NAB Direct Link User ID (This is different from your NAB Connect web ID).
- Remote Directory: usually
/or/uploaddepending on your specific contract. - Authentication: Select Stored Private Key.
- Click Test Connection.
Demiton will attempt to list the root directory. A Green Status indicates the tunnel is established.
