Connector Guide: Westpac Corporate Gateway

Setup guide for Westpac's Corporate Online Gateway (COG). Configuring secure SFTP connectivity for ABA files and Recoups.

The Connectivity Model

Demiton connects to Westpac via the Corporate Online Gateway (COG) using the Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).

This connection allows for:

  1. Direct Entry (ABA): Bulk payments (Payroll, Creditors).
  2. Recoups: Retrieving Return files and Statement data (BAI2).
  3. Real-Time ACKs: Immediate confirmation of file receipt by the bank's core.

Phase 1: Service Activation

Westpac requires a specific amendment to your Corporate Online agreement.

  1. Contact your Westpac Transactional Banking Specialist.
  2. Request an amendment for "Host-to-Host SFTP Access" (sometimes referred to as "Integrated Banking Service").
  3. Request a "Technical Onboarding Pack".
  4. Important: Ensure your user profile has permission to upload "Direct Entry" files without a secondary token (since Demiton acts as the Identity-Bound signer).

Phase 2: Credential Configuration

Westpac utilizes a specific username format and SSH key authentication.

Step 1: Obtain Identifiers

From your Westpac Administrator, obtain:

  • Company ID: The 8-digit Westpac Company Number (e.g., 00123456).
  • User ID: The 6-digit User Number assigned to the API/System user (e.g., 987654).

Step 2: SSH Key Exchange

  1. Log in to Demiton > Settings > Security.
  2. Download the Demiton Production Public Key (demiton_prod.pub).
  3. Submit this key via the Westpac Q-Drive Secure Portal (link provided in your Onboarding Pack).

Phase 3: Directory Structure

Westpac adheres to a strict directory convention. Demiton automates this mapping, but you must confirm these paths exist during the "Penny Test."

  • Outbound (Payments): /to-westpac
  • Inbound (Reports): /from-westpac
  • Archive: /history

Phase 4: Configure the Universal Adapter

  1. Log in to Demiton.
  2. Go to Connectors > Add Connector.
  3. Select Westpac Corporate.
  4. Host: sftp.westpac.com.au (Pre-filled).
  5. Username: Enter the composite username: [CompanyID]@[UserID] (e.g., 00123456@987654).
  6. Authentication: Select Stored Private Key.
  7. Environment: Select Production (or Test if you are in the UAT sandbox).
  8. Click Test Connection.

Demiton will attempt to write a 0-byte heartbeat file to /to-westpac. If the write permission is confirmed, the Status Badge will turn Emerald.
