Which rules set an Australian contractor's deadlines?
Three sets of rules carry most of the deadlines on an Australian civil job: each state's Security of Payment Act for progress claims, the WHS Acts for site safety, and the contract itself for delay and for every other notice. Each of the four guides below reads its windows from the library, with the section or clause.
The guides
- What is the Security of Payment Act?The Security of Payment Act in every Australian state: when a payment schedule is due, when to apply for adjudication, and the section that says so.
- What does the WHS Act require? The WHS Act and Regulation in every Australian state, and Victoria's OHS Act: notifiable incidents, SWMS, licences and records, with the section.
- What is an extension of time?An extension of time is more time to finish. Claim within 28 days under AS 4000 and GC21, 20 business days under the TMR TIC, 14 days under Main Roads WA.
- Notices in construction contractsWhat AS 4000, AS 4902, AS 2124 and GC21 make you notify, and by when: variation claims within 28 days, latent conditions, the final claim, and what late costs.
What these pages are, and are not
They are the duties this library holds, each with its source. They are not legal advice, and a contract's special conditions can change any contractual window.
No library of law is complete, and Demiton never says this one is. An obligation the library does not hold, and you did not add, is not protected. You can add your own to any job.
Clauses read from the obligation library, release v19, last checked against the source on .
